Jen Kollar focuses her attention on surface and shape, pushing the point at which an abstract shape becomes equated with an object, like "A" to an apple. Her work locates the convergence between these two states where it seems something must flip or change. By providing that instance with a stillness and enhancing that moment, she affords the viewer the time to ponder its meaning. This process leads her to the construction of a fetish object while creating a work of art. In exploring these boundaries, Jen brings a fascinating sense of the abstract into reality, an ability many purport but few have.
